10-year old ban on motorcycle in Yobe lifted

Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State has lifted the ban on the use of motorcycle across 10 local governments of Yobe North and South senatorial districts in the state.

Buni made the announcement at Nguru Emir’s Palace while commiserating with the residents over the recent fire incident at Nguru market.

Buni said residents were now free to use their motorcycle for easy access to their farms and for other legitimate purposes.

He pointed that the new measure was as a result of improvement in security situation witnessed in those areas.

Yobe State government banned the use of motorcycle during the peak of Boko Haram crisis in January 2012.

Following the development, motorbikes will now be used in communities such as Bade, Nguru, Karasuwa, Yusufari, Machina, Jakusko, Fune, Fika, Nangere and Potiskum local governments areas respectively.
