Disgraced former Secretary to the Federal Government, Babachir Lawal, has ruled out the possibility of the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Bola Ahmed Tiubu, winning the 2023 presidential election.
Lawal, a chieftain of the APC and Tinubu were friends.
The former Lagos governor antagonized the ex-SGF after he passed over a northern Christian who Lawal also is, as his running mate and instead picked a fellow Muslim.
Speaking on Channels Television programme, Today’s Politics on Thursday, Lawal said Tinubu stood a dog’s chance of winning the upcoming election, saying, “I told my friend (Tinubu) before the ticket came up…(sic). I said if you’re going for a Muslim/Muslim ticket, the consequence is that every Christian all over Nigeria, would feel slighted. Not only in the country but every Christian all over the world would feel slighted and their religion insulted.
“So, my thinking is that Bola (Tinubu) would not get 25 per cent votes in Kebbi, Sokoto, Zamfara, Kano, Yobe, and Borno. In all the Hausa-Fulani states, he goes nowhere.”
