Three students of School of Nursing, Benin, have been accused of raping a 6-year-old girl whose mother runs a shop in their school campus.
The suspects, Kenneth Egbai, Paul Aghama(both pictured) and Jeffery were accused of sexually assaulting Miss Sharon Eghobamien(pictured right), a 6-year-old pupil of Eriya Group of Schools, Ihogbe, Benin-City, Edo State.
The sexual assaults according to Mrs. Rachel Eghobamien, the victim’s mother was found out on May 25, 2015 following the girl’s frequent complaints of abdominal pain and constant urinating and defecating.
Mrs. Eghobamien reportedly pressed her daughter to reveal information about any man who was molesting her. The little girl was said to have told her mother that each time she was playing in shop while the mum was away Kenneth Egbai, Paul Aghama and Jeffery would lure her to their hostel to rape her.
The victim’s mother reported the alleged sexual assault to the police at Esigie Police Station, and subsequently the three nursing students were arrested.
It was said that medical examination conducted on the victim at Central Hospital Benin revealed that her hymen has been broken following penetration.
However, the suspects who were released way back and have not been charged with rape were said to have petitioned higher police authority in the state alleging that Sharon used object to break her hymen, and they had no sexual contacts with her.
