A fresh graduate of Moddibo Adama University (MAU), Yola, Adamawa State, Abdulmalik Tukur, has been killed by his abductors.
Tukur, who just completed the mandatory National Youths Service Corps (NYSC) scheme in Plateau State, was shot dead after he counted the N500,000 ransom his family paid for his release, as per Daily Trust.
The publication said, the 32-year-old was kidnapped from his family house in Vinkilang community on the outskirt of Yola alongside six others last Monday night.
His abductors reportedly reached out to his family to ask for N50m as ransom while they collected N400,000 each on other abductees.
It said, after three days of negotiations, an agreement was reached with Tukur’s family who then sent a representative in the form of his father, to deliver the N500,000 agreed upon at a spot in the bush at around 7pm on Thursday.
“After they helped them count the notes, they released Abdulmalik to return home. As he started walking to freedom they shot him with a gun without any explanation,” the paper quoted an unnamed source as saying.
