Gbileve, according to Punchng.com, met his untimely death after he and his friend finished a bout of drinking at an open bar on the fateful day and were about leaving for home.
The report said his drunken friend offered to take him and while reversing his Toyota Camry car the vehicle rammed into the soldier who was still seated on a chair in preparation to join him in the car.
The military, the paper said, have taken the deceased’s friend into custody and launched investigation into the incident, which happened in Makurdi, the Benue capital where the late soldier hailed from.
“On Tuesday, May 26, 2020, Lt. Col. Gbileve, while on a vacation trip to his home town, Markudi, sent his driver and orderly on an errand, while his friend decided to give him a lift in his Toyota Camry, because his driver delayed in returning.
“But the friend accidentally knocked him down as he was reversing the car. The incident occurred after the two men had taken some drinks. The friend was subsequently taken into military custody for investigation,” it quoted a source as saying.
