First bank Manager arrested over female banker’s murder

First Bank, Oja Oba branch manager in Akure, the Ondo State capital, has been arrested alongside a businesswoman in connection with the gruesome murder of a female worker in the bank, Adetutu Ibrahim.

Adetutu, who was in charge of the bank branch Point of Sale, POS business   was killed in cold blood by two gunmen who stormed the bank POS outlet at Okeogba area last Wednesday.

Prior to her killing, the 29 year-old was said to have reported a case of threat to life to the police after a businesswoman and customer of the bank in the area was allegedly infuriated by the manner she was distributing the POS machines in the state and threatened to deal ruthlessly with her.

The deceased before lodging complaint with the police, according to multiple accounts, had told the bank branch manager of the unnamed businesswoman’s threat but the best her boss could do was to order her to beg the woman.

Report said Adetutu’s killers who came to the shop on bicycle disguised as customers and at gunpoint ordered everybody to lie face down and attempted to strangulate the late banker but she extricated herself and fled.

Her killers reportedly ran after her and shot her dead fleeing the scene without stealing anything thus giving rising to insinuation that the said businesswoman allegedly masterminded her killing.

It was further gathered that the suspect and the bank manger have been taken into police custody for questioning and are currently in the State Police Command.
