Wearing of Adire now mandatory for top govt officials – Ogun gov.

Ogun Governor, Dapo Abiodun, said it has become a must for top government officials in the State to adorn dress made with Adire fabric at work every Friday.

Abiodun stated this on Thursday at the official launch of Ogun Adire Digital Market Place at the June 12 Cultural centre, Kuto, Abeokuta.

The governor explained that plan is afoot to change school uniform in all public schools in the state starting from next term to Adire fabric and went on to call on the Federal Government to adopt the fabric as attire for national events.

“For us in Ogun State and starting from next term, plans are on to make adire an integral part of school uniform fabric for our public primary and secondary schools.

“Plans have reached an advanced stage to make Adire an important aspect of everyday life, as all top government functionaries in the State now wear Adire on Fridays, just as plans are underway to make the Adire part of School uniform, he said.

Abiodun added that the step when it comes into place would rub off on the nation’s economy saying, “It would empower more people and further stimulate the Adire economy.”
