A 22-year-old man, Agaezichi Ogbonna, has beaten his mother to death in a fit of rage triggered by the deceased’s dislike for his amorous relationship with his aunt, her own sister.

The tragic incident happened on Saturday, at Akpaa Mbato community in Obingwa Council Area of Abia State.
According to multiple media reports, Agaezichi and his aunt, Blessing, were having a seedy affair underground which his mother, family and neighbours spoke against when it came to their notice on the grounds that it was a taboo and dastardly in Igbo-land for blood relations to indulge in such act.
However, despite the outrage their ‘unholy’ affair generated, the pair were said to be adamant and on the fateful day Agaezichi’s mother caught them in the act, and vented her displeasure. In turn, her son was said to have flown into rage, descended on her and beat her to a state of coma.
She was said to have been pronounced dead at the community hospital she was rushed to while her killer son and his lover who had run into thin air were later arrested by the police.
