Ondo State governor, Rotimi Akeredolu, has imputed alleged plot to blackmail him to his estranged deputy, Agboola Ajayi.
Akeredolu and Ajayi have been in a fierce rivalry culminating in the former dumping the All Progressives Congress, APC, to the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and later the Zenith Labour Party where he will be vying against the governor and others in the upcoming governorship election in the state scheduled for October 10.
The duo have been trading accusations and counter-accusation.
In the latest string, Akeredolu said Ajayi is up to something, alleging that his deputy is planning to blackmail him and his family with fake documents.
The governor explained that the plan by Ajayi was to sell the documents as original so that it can gain traction with the public adding that he was unmoved by the plot.
“For the records, the Akeredolu administration’s proclivity for transparency and accountability has made it a difficult task for anyone to malign, blackmail and discredit his administration.
“On our part, we shall inexorably sustain the civil, issues-based and persuasive campaigns that had been enunciated from the beginning of this process,” he said in part.
