A new twist was on Thursday added to the unending controversy surrounding the mysterious death of Joy Odama, a 200 level student of Mass Communication Department in Cross River State University of Science and Technology at one Alhaji Usman Adamu’s house in Abuja, on December 20, 2016.

Initially the deceased’s mother, Mrs. Philomena Odama, accused Alhaji Adamu of killing her daughter for ritual saying murdering young girls for rituals was Alhaji’s stock-in-trade.

The bereaved mother also alleged that the Divisional Police Officer of Karmo Police Station, CSP Nkem Raphael, where the matter was reported to, attempted to sweep it under the rug.

Later on, the National Hospital Abuja claimed it conducted an autopsy on Odama’s body and report revealed she died of acute cocaine poison.

“The cause of death was traced to cardiogenic shock secondary to diffusion, myocardial infaration secondary to possible acute cocaine poison,” the hospital said.

However, yesterday, the Police Force Headquarters released another autopsy report, which says the deceased died of generator fumes in Alhaji Adamu’s house.

According to Police Spokesman, Deputy Superintendent Jimoh Moshood, the first autopsy was inconclusive.

Moshood stated this at a press briefing in Abuja

His word, “I want to say that we did not reject the first autopsy report. The first autopsy report was not conclusive. In fact, Dr. Paul Jubril who conducted first autopsy equally witnessed the second autopsy report examination.”

The family of the deceased, however, faulted the latest autopsy released by the police.

Their representative, President, Basic Rights Enlightenment Foundation, BREF, Augustine Okechukwu said, “I was there when the police conducted the second autopsy, but they refused to give us the final results when it came out.”

Okechukwu added that the family of the deceased would take the matter to court.
