Lagos State Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Con¬gress (APC), Mr. Joe Igbokwe, has bought a house in Surulere in Lagos Central senatorial district.

An old building and located at off Adelebu Street, Igbokwe acquired the property for N53m and pulled it down.

But when our correspondent texted him to confirm about his recent acquisition, Igbokwe who doubled as the GM of Lagos State Infrastructure Maintenance and Regulatory Agency(LASIMRA), and Chairman, Wharf Landing Fees Collecting Authority lost his cool.

His reply: “If this is a blackmail you will fail my dear. I have worked for every kobo l have. Maybe you do not know me. I bought my first car in 1990. I do not how old you were then. May be you need to dig up my background. You cannot kill all the reach(sic) people to keep the poor. Did you watch AIT Campaigns against Asiwaju BAT before the elections. Asiwaju won! Now look here, l have five multiple sources of income ok.

“I am 59 years old. I left University in 1985 and graduated as a mechanical engineer. I became millionaire in 1995 when l wrote my first book : Igbos 25 years after Biafra. it multiplied in 1999 when l wrote Heroes of Democracy. What l have done in the last 30 yrs as engineer, publisher, Author, pub sec ACN,APC, GM LASIMRA and Chairman Wharf landing fees collecting authority can fetch me that kind of house but l do not brag about earthly things. I am not a poor man by any standard. It is of no use publishing this.

“By the time we finish this you will know me. My age mates and classmates have served as Governors, some have retired from oil industry and are living in Ikoyi, Lekki, Banana Island, Parkview Estate homes worth hundreds of millions and you are here talking about a 70 year old submerged building . Iam ashamed that l still live in a rented apartment on my street given my position in Lagos. As GM LASIMRA l rejected bribe of 200m, another 60m and another 80m. You do not know me.”
