APC reacts to rumour of Jonathan joining party

The rumour making rounds that former President Goodluck Jonathan has defected from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to the All Progressives Congress, APC, has drawn the reaction of the ruling party.

Speculation has been rife that Jonathan was in the process of defecting to the APC. On Wednesday report emerged on social media that he has finally made the move.

Reacting, the National Secretary of the party, Senator John Akpanudoedehe on a Channels Television Political Programme, Politics Today, said the report was far from the truth adding that the party would welcome anybody into its fold including the former President.

His word, “Everyone is allowed to join the APC, we welcome everyone who wants to join. We are getting stronger in terms of our progressive agenda. I’m hearing that for the first time, if he comes, we will welcome him, that will be great news.

“The last National Executive Committee meeting gave a blanket approval to everyone who wants to join the party and anyone who joins the party has the right to aspire for any office.”
