Rev King is awaiting execution in Sokoto Prison after being sentenced to death by hanging but despite living on borrowed time, his posters bearing his image contesting for 2019 presidential election have flooded Lagos streets, raising suggestion that he would contest from prison or posthumously.
The plan to adopt the embattled pastor as APDA presidential candidate was revealed by the party’s Chairman, Publicity Committee, Brady Chijioke Nwosu, an Imo State governorship aspirant on the party platform in an interview with Sun.
Nwosu told the paper and justified the planned action: “Forget about his conviction, he was innocent of the matter for which he was sentenced to death. It was a set up and phantom. How many courts have convicted those who have looted the country? He didn’t do anything. He is running for presidency, and his poster is everywhere.
“Obasanjo was also in prison and came out to become the president. Even former Abia State governor, T. A. Orji won governorship election while in prison custody. If Obasanjo could become president, then why not an innocent man that was set up and sentenced to death?”
