Allegation against former governor of Osun State, Mr. Rauf Aregbesola, that he forged a police report he presented before an Election Petition Tribunal in 2007 in the wake of his legal battle with the then governor of the state, Olagunsoye Oyinlola has resurfaced.
Aregbesola and six others are facing six counts bordering on forging and presenting a fake police report to an election petition tribunal in 2007. The trial was put in abeyance on account of immunity he enjoyed after the tribunal declared him governor.
The case may be heading to full circle following calls by Osun State branch of the PDP, via a statement its chairman, Soji Adagunodo, released on Wednesday.
The statement reads in part: “Now that Mr Aregbesola no longer enjoys constitutional immunity, the Inspector General of Police is duty bound to arrest him and present him before the court to prove his innocence in the charge.”
