Atiku: I prefer to die than to support Fulani man, Says Ortom

The Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom says, he preferred to die than to support anybody who is of Fulani extraction including Presidential candidate of his party, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar to become President.

Ortom has been one of the five governors elected on the platform of the PDP with Gov. Nyesom Wike as the arrow-head opposed to maintenance of the status Quo in respect of Iyorchia Ayu’s continued stay as the party national chairman due to the latter sharing a bond of being from the same north with Atiku.

That aside, the former Vice-President, a Fulani man, has also drawn the Benue governor’s ire for his disposition to alleged marauding activities of his tribesmen in the state.

On Sunday while hosting his four-friend governors in Makurdi, for the official flag-off of the PDP governorship and parliamentary campaign scheduled for Monday, Ortom declared openly that he is in opposition to Atiku or any other Fulani person leading the country again, even at the expense of being killed.

According to him, “To hell with Atiku and anyone supporting him. They should go and tell him. You want me to be slave for a Fulani. It’s better I die. Anybody supporting Atiku is an enemy of Benue. My people are being killed and you want me to be quiet.

“I have written my will. When I gave it to my wife, she cried all night. If I die at 62, many of my mates have gone long time ago and If I die today, I’m a fulfilled person but let it be recorded that I died resisting the invasion and killing of my people. I will never support a Fulani man to become president.”
