Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, has told Sunday Igboho to be wary of politicians, who allegedly are bound to compromise the motive for his fight against the Fulani community in Southwest and hijack the struggle for political gains.
Ooni gave this advice to Igboho in an interview he granted Arise TV, which our correspondent monitored.
He lavished praise on the political thug, who found national fame after he made good his threat to sack the Fulani community including their Seriki in Igangan in Ibarapa North Local Government Area of Oyo State, over spate of criminal acts including rape, kidnapping allegedly perpetrated by them.
The monarch, however, urged Igboho to stop taking law into his hands and allow constituted authority to address the insecurity problem in the area, adding that if he was not careful of politicians his motive would be compromised and hijacked.
“Let us be very objective. He (Igboho) is being a mouthpiece for the downtrodden. He came up and everybody is listening now but my advice to him as a traditional ruler is that he needs to be very careful so that the politicians won’t hijack the whole motive from him.
“He has done well and we’ve already praised him but he shouldn’t take laws into his hands. We have the governor there, he is the chief security officer of the state and Mr President has invited him (Makinde). Let the right people that are being authorised to do what is right do it.
“He (Igboho) has done well and the world has heard him but everything should be done in moderation,” Ooni said.
