Africa’s fastest woman, Blessing Okagbare has dedicated the several awards she won to Delta State Governor, Dr Emmanuel Uduaghan.

Blessing who attributed her success to the supports of the governor stated this during the management of The Sun Newspapers presentation of the letter of Sports Person of the Year award to her in Asaba on Wednesday.

Now Mrs Ighoteguonor, the Africa’s fastest woman dedicated the award and series of awards she has received to Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan in particular, Deltans and Nigerians.

She also, thanked the management of The Sun Newspapers for the recognition and assured that she would continue to do her best for the state and the country.

Gov. Uduaghan described the feat recorded by the athlete as one of the gains of his administration’s Human Capital Development agenda.
According to him, the success recorded by Blessing Okagbare at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland was a great feat for Nigeria after years of not winning medals at the Commonwealth Games.

He asserted that it was a thing of pride to see the world stand still for Nigeria’s national anthem as a result of the laurels won by Blessing Okagbare and Ese Brume who are Deltans.

Dr Uduaghan stated that the greatest asset of the state is in human capital development and his administration has encouraged Deltans to excel in their chosen fields.

“Blessing is a product of our Human Capital Development scheme and we believe that the state is not just rich in oil alone but is richer in human talent and we should be able to develop whatever potentials any Deltan exhibits be it in sports or entertainment,” Governor Uduaghan said.

Governor Uduaghan expressed hope that Blessing Okagbare would also, do Nigeria proud at the 2016 Olympic games.

Presenting the letter of award to Blessing Okagbare, the General Editor, Sun Newspaper, Mrs. Funke Egbemode commended Governor Uduaghan on his administration’s stride in human capital development of which Blessing Okagbare was a beneficiary.

She commended the state government’s effort to transform the sporting, health, agriculture and other sectors of the economy.
