Late Edem, who was based in Malaysia and was in Nigeria for his wedding scheduled for December 27, was shot dead allegedly by Inspector Edem on December 22, at the premises of a Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Mega Station located at the Control Post junction in Owerri, the Imo State capital where he had gone to buy fuel.

The deceased was killed in the presence of his fiancee, and his younger brother after his iPhone 7 got missing. It was said that he accused the petrol attendant of stealing the phone and angry argument ensued between them.

Report says the arrival of Inspector Edem, who was attached to the petrol station on the scene set the scene for an uglier argument during which the trigger-happy cop allegedly shot dead Edem.

It was further gathered that the killer cop has been on the run but the manager of the NNPC petrol station is in police detention.
