Buba Galadima was an old friend and an associate of President Muhammadu Buhari and had been together in politics from their time in All Nigerian People Party, to the defunct Congress for Progressive Change, CPC, and the All Progressive Congress, APC, where they fell out.

Ever since, the centre could not hold again between them as Galadima led a faction of the ruling party, the Reformed APC, as its chairman to the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

Presently, the former Director General, Nigeria Maritime Authority is one of the politicians at the forefront of opposition against Buhari’s reelction.

In an interview with The Sun, Galadima hinted that his grievance with the president was not altruistic but self-aggrandizement alleging that in their days in the trenches as opposition he spent a lot on Buhari but the president did not reward his generosity towards him on assumption of office.

“May I wish you that you work for something for 15 years, and when it matures, you should be denied benefits.

“But you should ask yourself, when we were with him and promoting him, what was he giving to us? Did he give me anything? I used my own resources, hard-earned resources to work for his interest. So, why should it be now,” Galadima told the paper.
