President Muhammadu Buhari has expressed his disapproval at the manners of some of his appointees in official matters between them and members of the National Assembly.
Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Festus Keyamo, openly bickered with a joint committee of the Senate and House of Representatives on Labour over the recruitment of personnel for 774,000 unskilled jobs.
In a similar vein, the NDDC Managing Director, Prof. Kemebradikumo Pondei, on Thursday walked out on the Olubunmi Ojo-led House of Representatives Committee, which is investigating the alleged N40 billion sleaze in the agency.
Speaking against the backdrop of the latest confrontation between the executive and the legislative, Buhari warned that he would no longer condone any form of disrespect from his appointees to the lawmakers.
The President read the riot act to his ministers and others through a statement his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Mallam Garba Shehu released and titled: “NDDC: President Buhari directs speedy coordinated investigation”.
In it, he ordered a speedy and coordinated investigation of the activities of the NDDC management, urging a better coordination among security and investigation agencies, and the National Assembly to unravel the problems militating against the agency’s performance and factors undermining the development of the Niger Delta.
