Lagos doctor dies of coronavirus after treating infected patient

A doctor in private practice, Chugbo Emeka, has died of coronavirus-related complications which he developed from treating an infected patient in a hospital.

Emeka died on Wednesday at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH), Idi-Araba, Lagos mainland.

The 51-year-old was rushed to LUTH on Monday upon manifesting symptoms of the pandemic after treating a coronavirus patient who died in the process.

The Nigeria Medical Association Lagos state chapter, announced his demise via a tweet: “NMA LAGOS regrets to announce the death of Dr. Chugbo Emeka at the LUTH isolation ward. He died on 15/04/2020.He was a Private Medical Practitioner who was exposed to a confirmed case of COVID-19. We condole with his family and d medical community for this painful loss.”
