The media team of former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, said the truck which rammed into the immediate past governor of Edo State’s convoy killing two policemen attached to him and injured two others was a premeditated incident to kill him.
Oshiomhole is a standard-bearer for the opposition to Governor Godwin Obaseki’s reelection bid, the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the upcoming September 19 election.
The former labour leader was on his way to Usen for an APC campaign rally when tragedy struck near Oluku junction in the Ovia North-East local Government of the state at about 12.00pm.
Reports said an articulated vehicle lost control and rammed into his convoy leaving two policemen among officers occupying the vehicle behind the one he was in dead and injuring two others while he escaped unhurt.
In a statement released by his media team, it alleged foul play saying the accident was premeditated assassination effort to kill the former labour leader.
It reads partly: “Without prejudice to police investigations, eyewitnesses accounts suggest, and we believe rightly too, that this was an assassination attempt targeting Comrade Adams Oshiomhole. It is painful that innocent policemen performing their legal duties lost their lives in this very unfortunate incident.”
