After the Court of Appeal, sitting in Port-Harcourt, on Friday, declared Sheriff as the National Chairman of the PDP, the faction led by Senator Ahmed Makarfi said it would challenge the Appeal Court’s judgement at the Supreme Court.
“We will certainly appeal to the Supreme Court. No reconciliatory effort will stop it. We need the Supreme Court to make a pronouncement on the issue once and for all,” a part of a statement released by the spokesman of Makarfi led-faction, Dayo Adeyeye read.
But reacting to the resolve of the faction, Sheriff in his first comment after his victory at the Appeal Court urged them to accept his leadership in good faith, adding that the court is not a place to settle political issues.
He said, “I have full confidence in the judiciary of this country but the judiciary is not the best place to settle political disputes but our judiciary is first class. Let me caution people that have been making misguided statements against our judiciary to desist from doing so.”
