Police commissioner arrested over N1.9bn fraud

The Commissioner of Police in charge of Department of Logistics and Supply, Force Headquarters, Abuja, CP Victor Onofiok, has been arrested for alleged N1.9bn fraud.

Report says the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, arrested Onofiok on November 30 following a petition from the police high command.

Onofiok(pictured) who has held the position since 2014, is accused of awarding contracts worth more than N1.9bn to companies in which he has interest.

Most of the companies, which were said to be mere business names and not limited companies, include, Dutse Allah Construction Ventures, Nne-Edak Technical Ventures, Puristic Adherent Company, Quality Watch Construction Company and Faksene International.

It was also gathered that the suspect is cooperating with the EFCC and has divulged information that may lead to the arrest of some retired high rank officers.
