Governor Emmanuel Udom has stepped into the sexual abuse scandal swirling around the secondary school of Deeper Life Church in Akwa-Ibom State.
Deeper Life High School located at Uyo, the state capital has been in the news for bad reason after the mother of a JSS 1 male pupil, an 11-year-old, in boarding, accused senior student(s) of violating her son through the anus in social media post.
Followed on from the post, which sparked wide outrage, the school authority suspended the principal and investigation launched into the matter.
The latest in the string, Gov. Udom has weighed into it, according to the Education Secretary of the school, Mrs Thelma Malaka, in an interview with newsmen on Tuesday.
Malaka said this is to ensure that the investigation was not compromised and justice served and went on to share insight into other steps taken.
“The panel has sat and we have presented staff members and students of our school who have been mentioned in this particular case all through the period of the investigation. We believe that the government will share the final report once the investigation is concluded,” she said.
