Senator Dino Melaye has declared his interest in succeeding Gov. Yahaya Bello come 2023.
Bello is locked in a firce battle with Melaye. The former is expected to seek re-election but the Senator representing Kogi West by his interest may have added fuel to his conflict with the incumbent.

Melaye reportedly made his intention known at a meeting of the leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party at the residence of Major General David Jemibewon in Aiyetoro area of the state.
The senator’s media aide, Gideon Ayodele, who was familiar with discussion at the meeting, confirmed his principal’s statement in an interview with Punchng.com.
Ayodele told the paper: “Senator Dino Melaye stood up and informed the meeting of his intention to join the race to Lugard House, the seat of Kogi state government come November.”
