An eerie silence prevailed at Ita Oluwo, in the Ikorodu area of Lagos State following the death of a three year-old boy who fell into a well and drowned.

The incident took place on Sunday at Hassan Sule Street at a building near the deceased’s parents’ house.

The three-year-old, Oluwatunmise Samuel(pictured beside the well) who was playing with his four-year-old elder brother, Timileyin, and their friends was said to have strayed into an open well at one Mr. Bamidele Ogunwole’s fenceless building at around 3.00pm.

It took concerted efforts by members of the Oodua People’s Congress, and officials of the Lagos Fire Service to bring the remains of Oluwatunmise out around 7.00pm.
Dug about eight years ago, reports have it that the well was unused because it doesn’t have enough water. However, it remained open and was never covered.
