Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State has relayed a story to newsmen at Government House, Port Harcourt, that suggested he has information about killers of slain DSP Alkali Mohammed.
Wike dropped the hint on Wednesday.
He said, “I just read in the newspaper about the arrest of somebody who beheaded a DSP. In the course of that, the person owned up that he was sponsored by a former Commissioner for Power, who is of course, a member of the other political party.
“I remember on that election day, this boy and four others were arrested and an order came that they should be released immediately. Now, look at the mayhem caused after they were released.”
DSP Alkali, and his orderly were killed in an ambush at Uju community in Ogba Egbema Ndoni Local Government Area of the state during the November 10, 2016, rerun election in Rivers State.
The deceased hailed from Minna and was with Mobile Police Unit 48. He was survived by his parents, wife and three children. His bereaved father, Alhaji Yakubu Alkali, is a retired Commissioner of Police.
