An ex-convict, Mercy Orija, has reportedly raped a 12-year-old pupil, Janet Fakeye, to death in Abeokuta, Ogun State.
Orija, upon commission of the crime has gone into hiding.
The suspect was convicted for assaulting a Point-of-Sale operator in the community last year.
His latest crime came shortly after his release from prison.
His victim was a Junior Secondary School pupil at the Army Day Secondary School, Alamala, Abeokuta who had reportedly left home to buy soap to wash her socks when Orija waylaid her on the way, dragging her into a building where he carried out the criminal act.
His late father’s house has paid for his crime in a way as angry mob set fire to it, which razed it down, while the police have launched a manhunt for him.
