Hauwa, Abubarka, an ex-wife of Muhammad Attahiru-Zagga, a magistrate who was stabbed to death on Thursday in Birnin Kebbi has been arrested.
Attahiru-Zagga, the presiding magistrate at Magistrates’ Court II, Jega, Jega Local Government Area of Kebbi State was stabbed on Thursday night at his residence located in Aliero quarters, Birnin Kebbi.
It resulted into his death over which the police picked Hauwa who was said to be at the killing scene and accused of stabbing her ex.
Meanwhile, the Kebbi chapter of the Nigeria Bar Association (NBA) is demanding justice for the slain magistrate. While offering their condolences to the deceased family, the NBA reiterated the call for adequate security for members of the lower bench.
“This ugly incident has underscored the fact that members of the lower bench are vulnerable to attacks that ought not be.
“We reiterate that such must not be endangered species, hence they must be provided with security personnel at both places of their work and outside places of their work inclusive of their residences,” Muhammad Usman, spokesman for the NBA in Kebbi said in a statement in Birnin Kebbi on Friday.
