A fake doctor, Martins Ugwu who is enmeshed in a forgery scandal having been found using his friend’s certificate he obtained from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria to practise medicine for about a decade has been disowned by the institution.

Martins (pictured), a senior official with the Federal Ministry of Health was recently arrested after it was discovered by the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria that he is an impostor, and had used his friend, Dr. George Davidson Daniel’s first degree certificate to join the civil service in 2006.

Dr. George Daniel, is currently undergoing a residency training programme in Jos, Plateau State, and he and Martins, who was due to be promoted to an Assistant Director in the Nigerian Centre for Disease Control, a parastatal of the Federal Ministry of Health before the bubble burst hail from Orukpa in the Ogbadibo Local Government Area of Benue State.

It was said that Martins was Dr. Daniel’s best man at his wedding in 2006 and allegedly stole the certificate during the celebration.

The Faculty of Medicine, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria in a letter dated June 5, 2015 addressed to the FCSC confirmed that the real George Davidson Daniel graduated with a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery in May, 2002.

The letter reads in part: “This is to confirm that George Daniel Davidson who was born on June 25, 1971, graduated with an MB,BS degree from this university in May, 2002.”
