Family members have denied reports that daughter of House of Representative member, Hon. Joe Edionwele, Jessica Edionwele’s abduction was a hoax “orchestrated” with her boyfriend.
Reports had it that Jessica(pictured), a youth corps member and second daughter of Hon. Edionwele who represents Esan West, Esan Central and Igueben federal constituency in the lower chamber was found by the police in a supermarket in Lugbe area of Abuja shopping with her boyfriend after her family lost contact with her last Wednesday and announced that she had been kidnapped.
However, speaking on behalf of the family, Barrister Lucky Eseigbe said contrary to media reports, the 24-year-old was actually kidnapped by unknown persons, and her fiance was not in town.
He said: “The online reports are fake and intended to embarrass Hon. Edionwele.
“Miss Edionwele last communicated with members of her family via phone when she was about boarding an Abuja flight from Lagos airport on October 7th and when she could not get to her father’s residence in Area1, the family reported the matter to the police.
“Police intensified efforts and got information that she was being held against her wish in Lugbe and the person who kidnapped her also contacted Rep Edionwele, who in turn informed the FCT police.
“Jessica was rescued from her abductor but never in her lover’s house as speculated. Her fiancé is out of the country as at when this incident happened. No ransom was paid but for the early intervention of the police, she was not harmed,” he said.
