The family and relatives of late Olumuyiwa Ewarawon, a final year Psychology student of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko, Ondo State, have called on police to investigate the circumstances surrounding the alleged murder of their son.
The late Ewarawon(pictured) who hailed from Idiogba in Ondo State and attended Rolex College before gaining admission into Adekunle Ajasin university, was allegedly murdered by a suspected para-military organization operating in the university.
The distraught family petitioned the Ondo State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Mike Ogbodu, and alleged that Olumuyiwa was attacked in his room at Shanghai Hostel in Akungba by the armed gang of seven boys under the guise of being student cadet officers.
The petition read in part: “The armed assailants broke into Olumuyiwa’s room while he was asleep and attacked him, thereafter, brutalized, bruised and inflicted on him fatal injuries from which he fell into coma.
“The gang dumped Olumuyiwa’s body at the General Hospital, Iwarooka Akoko before good Samaritans brought the incident to the attention of the family three days later.”
They said his comatose body was taken to Trauma Centre Ondo but was immediately referred to Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital, Ile-Ife where he later died.
The family urged the Commissioner of Police to use his good office to ensure a full investigation into the alleged murder of Olumuyiwa by the suspected Cadet Officers.
