A serial divorcee, and once married to daughter of former Kwara State governor, Alh. Adamu Attah’s daughter, Yemisi Wada, and a Ghanaian Regina Amonoo, Fani-Kayode shortly after he was discharged and acquitted by the Lagos High Court on the case filed against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) told newsmen he would not attend Yemisi’s daughter’s wedding when he was asked.
He said, “I won’t attend the wedding, am not aware of it and I did not give my approval.”
Interestingly, the former Minister after the favourable verdict announced a change of family name, claiming that since God gave him victory over torments from the anti-graft agencies and others who wanted him to end up in jail.
According to him, “As a mark of honor and respect for the Lord and as an everlasting testimony of my love for and dedication to him, I wish to make it known to the Nigerian public that as from today my name will be changed.
“It will no longer be David Oluwafemi Fani-Kayode but instead, it shall be David Oluwafemi Olukayode. Olukayode means “the Lord has brought me joy” and today he has done precisely that.
“As from this day, in honor of him and as a small tribute to my love for and total dependence on Him, that shall remain my family name. Once again, I give thanks to God for all that has happened to me and for this great deliverance. To him be all the glory.”
Later in the day, the ex-minister was joined by loved ones, including his girlfriend, former Miss Valentine and 2014 Miss United Nations World 2014,Precious Chikwendu(both pictured above) to celebrate his acquittal.
