A farmer has beaten his wife to death in Ondo State after an argument ensued between them over a bag of garri.
The incident happened at Obatedo village in Omotosho , Okitipupa Local Government Area of the state where the suspect, John Ogunji lived with his late wife, Christiana Ogunji who was 39-year-old.
45 year-old John, a farmer turned his wife into a punching bag after she failed to agree with his opinion on how the family would share a bag of garri (cassava flour).
Reports have it that John wanted the bag of garri shared between him and Christiana but she was against the idea, insisting that it was inappropriate for a couple to do so.
Her firm and uncompromising stance on the issue, infuriated John and he physically attacked her, and beat her fatally.
While the deceased died before she was rushed to the hospital for medical treatment, it was learnt that the suspect is presently detained at the state Police headquarters in Akure.
Police Image Maker, Mr. Wole Ogodo confirmed the incident, adding that the suspect would soon be charged to court after the completion of the investigation.
