A furious man who hails from Ogun State stabbed his wife and mother of his six surviving children to death yesterday, police say.
The suspect, Gbenga Ogunfolabo, a famer, was said to have stabbed his wife, Bosede Ogunfolabo with a broken bottle during a fight between the couple at their residence at Ishara in Remo-North Local Government Area.
Attempts by the 47-year-old suspect to hush up the incident with his family by mounting pressure on the deceased’s family to take heart, and not press charges were futile.
It was gathered that the couple had eight children but lost two of them to sickness and that the husband, who is a farmer, has been maltreating the deceased, a petty trader, before he eventually stabbed her to death.
The State Police Commissioner, CP Ikemefuna Okoye has directed that the matter be transferred to the Department of Criminal Investigation, Eleweran Abeokuta for discreet investigation; and has advised the general public to always report cases of this nature or any other crimes to the police to have records or statistics of crimes committed in the state and to allow justice to have its ways.
