Ex-Ekiti State governor, Mr. Ayodele Fayose, risked being dragged to the law court over allegation that he damaged a commercial vehicle in a crash he allegedly caused on Third Mainland Bridge, Lagos.

Fayose was involved in the accident last year’s December 5, but details of the incident, which made the news was sketchy then.

However, a version of the incident has emerged with Punch reporting that a bus driver by the name, Taiye Adams, accused the ex-governor of causing the accident and damaging his vehicle.

The Kwara-born told the paper that his bus broke down on Third Mainland Bridge and an official of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, LASTMA, was helping him to call LASTMA office to get towing truck when Fayose driving on top speed rammed into his bus and damaged it.

According to Taiye, when the dust settled, the chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party chieftain promised to repair his mangled vehicle, a promise he has not kept till date.

“Fayose, who was alone in his car, was driving on top speed when he rammed into my bus. He also crushed the LASTMA motorcycle. A lot of people came to his rescue and the vehicles were taken to the LASTMA office at Iyana Oworo.

“I told him that the bus had been damaged beyond repairs. Mr Bakare asked me the value of the vehicle and I told him it was N1.7m. He said Fayose would pay the money.

“When I did not get any feedback, I went back on December 23, 2018. The LASTMA officer said Fayose was not responding. I asked him if the ex-governor did not admit to his fault or he was not just ready to replace my bus. Mr Bakare said he did not respond. When I consulted with my union leaders at the motor park, I was advised to get a lawyer to engage with Fayose,” the distraught driver told Punch.
