FILM MARKETER JAILED FOR ONE YEAR FOR SELLING UNCENSORED FILM

A popular film marketer in Kano, Alhaji Sani Rainbow has been sentenced to a year imprisonment by a Mobile Court attached to the Kano State Film and Video Censorship Board for selling a film titled “Kicimilli” without certification.

The Magistrate, Malam Muktari Ahmad, who passed the judgment, also gave Alhaji Rainbow an option to pay N70, 000 fine.

Ahmad said the convict should also pay N30, 000 to the board or serve a jail term.

Rainbow had pleaded guilty to the charge.

The prosecutor, Malam Hussaini Sulaiman earlier told the court that the offence contravened the provisions of Section 97 of the Kano Censorship Laws of 2001.
