Five officers of the traffic control agency at its Ijebu Command in Ogun State were victims of a lightning strike that occurred during a heavy downpour on Wednesday morning while preparing to leave office to their duty post.

While three died, the others survived by a whisker but ostensibly with injuries.

The commission via its twitter handle, @FRSCNigeria, said it has set up a panel to investigate the regrettable incident.

It wrote: “…cause of the incident, the Corps Marshal has also set up a Board of inquiry and ordered immediate investigation with a view to ascertain all variables that led to the unfortunate occurrence.”
