In a post on his twitter handle, the 41-year-old University of Lagos graduate wrote, “In Presence of friends & family from around the world, Anthony & I will say ‘I Do’. But we remember places in the world where love is crime.”

One Ayo Sogunro in reply to Alimi’s tweet wrote, “Redeemed Camp causing traffic is a social problem. Two men kissing is not a social problem. Our progress is fixed by how we define problems.”

Fathered by a police officer and raised in Mushin, a notorious slum in Lagos, Alimi was the third in a family of five children from his mother, who was a university clerk and sixth from his father’s ten children.
