A chaotic scramble is on to fill the exalted office of the group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation(NNPC) as the incumbent, Dr. Ibe Kachikwu prepares to exit following his ministerial appointment.
Sources in NNPC said Dr. Kachikwu is scheming to have his man as his successor and instituted an Igbo cabal and syndicate .
“Already there are twelve people of Igbo extraction Dr. Kachikwu placed in strategic positions at NNPC and has begun a maneuvering to get either Mr. Sola or Engr. Ige, two Yoruba men to succeed him so that that they can protect his interest and that of the cabal,” sources explained.
It will be recalled that the National publicity secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party, Olisa Metuh, in a telephone interview told Channels TV that the Group Managing Director of Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, Ibe Kachikwu, was discovered by the PDP and had been penciled down for ministerial appointment by the last administration.
Metuh said: “Ibe Kachikwu was supposed to be Minister of Petroleum under PDP 2 years ago, So he is not a new discovery.”
