IGP orders withdrawal of policemen attached to VIPs

The Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, has ordered the withdrawal of all police officers attached to Very Important Persons all over the country.

The Senate President, the Speaker House of Representatives and police officers attached to the Government Houses are however exempted from the order, according to the signal signed by the AIPOL, Protect, Force Headquarters, Abuja.

It reads in part, “Any protect personnel found escorting or guarding any VIP with or without a firearm is deemed to be deployed by the commander and the commander will be sanctioned.”

The latest order has been issued in the past without success as over the course of time returned to business as usual. A case in point was during the time of Adamu’s predecessor, Ibrahim Idris Kpotun.
