The Presidential Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Alhaji Abubakar has allayed fear among the party faithful that the main opposition is heading towards implosion.
Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State is believed to be sore by Atiku’s refusal to make him his running mate, a displeasure that Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom said it was within Wike’s right, and rightly so, in an interview with Arise TV.
This, has sparked suggestion that all is not well in PDP.
Also Wike’s open romance with the Presidential flagbearers of the New Nigeria Peoples Party, NNPP, and Labour Party, Rabiu Kwankwaso and Peter Obi respectively has shown sign that the governor was on his way out of the PDP.
The sign became more evident when the fiery Rivers Governor was reported to have met the Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Bola Ahmed Tinubu recently in France.
This all, has drawn reactions that Wike is about to defect from the PDP, a suggestion Atiku addressed in a tweet in which the former Vice-President stated that he is in talks with the Rivers governor and his likes, who are aggrieved.
The tweet, “The Peoples Democratic Party will remain united. Focus on our actions. We are taking action to address the feelings of all party members. The unity in our community is my priority. Our resolve to unify Nigeria starts in our party and moves to the community, then on to society.”
“Every Governor, Legislator, and other elected officials produced by our party, and party members and loyalists, are much loved and respected by me. When they speak, I listen. I do not only listen. Appropriate actions have been taken, are being taken, and will continue to be advanced.”
