Four of the police officers, who were caught on camera assaulting a female protester, Treasure Chiamaka Nduka, in Surulere area of Lagos State have been arrested and in detention.
Nduka’s assault by the officers including Inspector Bagou Michael, Inspector Ekpoudom Etop, Sergeant Nnamdi Majura and Sergeant Akinyemi Benson, all attached to Area C Command, in front of the station was captured on camera and went viral.
Sequel, the female lawyer’s parents raised the alarm about her whereabouts fearing she may be have been killed by the operatives.
The police authorities in Lagos in a statement released by the Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, said her abusers have been arrested and in detention facing trial.
“The Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu, has arrested and commenced orderly room trial of four policemen, , Inspector Bagou Michael, Inspector Ekpoudom Etop, Sergeant Nnamdi Majura and Sergeant Akinyemi Benson who were caught assaulting a young protester in a viral video in Surulere on Monday,” Adejobi revealed.
