An Inspector has reportedly been killed by gunmen who ambushed Ojoto Police station in Idemili South local government area of Anambra State.
The slain officer whose identity is yet to be made public by the police authorities was said to have been killed on Thursday afternoon.
Sources familiar with the incident, said the gunmen stormed the station in three Sienna vehicles firing gunshots indiscriminately and leaving one dead.
The casualties would have been more but for gallant officers who repelled them, it was added.
Recall that the Southeast has been the ground zero of attack on police stations and killing of officers by gunmen suspected to be members of proscribed secessionist group, Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB.
