Fayose’s trial: Obanikoro tells court how his aide died in accident

In the on-going trial of former Gov. Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State and one Spotless Limited for N2.2bn fraud, Mr. Musiliu Obanikoro, the fifth prosecution witness, on Tuesday told the court of how his late personal assistant Justin Erukaa, whose statement made during investigation was earlier admitted in evidence died.

“He (Erukaa) left Lagos a day before Sallah about two years ago, and the Police called one of my SAs that the owner of the phone just had an accident and had died on the spot; and he (Obanikoro’s SA) immediately called me and informed me,” the former minister told the court when he was being cross examined by Fayose’s lawyer, Mr. Olalekan Ojo (SAN).

The former Ekiti governor and Spotless Limited are being tried on 11 counts bordering on criminal breach of trust, stealing and money laundering.
