Ummakulsum Sani Buhari, the 23-year-old who was killed by her Chinese lover, Gheng Chu in Kano was a member of the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC.
Ummakulsum was murdered in cold blood by Chu who is 24 years her senior at her residence in Kano. Her killer stabbed her multiple times in her room. An action, which proceeded from the victim’s reluctance to remain in the affair and had done with it.
A source well acquainted with Ummakulsum said she just graduated from Kano State School of Nursing and Midwifery and was observing the mandatory one-year national service in Sokoto State before her murder.
Narrating the incidence to newsmen yesterday, Ummukulthum’s bereaved mother confirmed that her daughter was in relationship with the suspect before she got married about three years ago but the marriage failed after three months, which made the Chinese to stalk their house even though her daughter never paid attention to Chu.
“But on that fateful Friday evening, the sound of his knock on the gate was too disturbing and I decided to open it. He pushed me and gained entry into her room. He stabbed her multiple times with a knife in spite of my efforts to rescue her
“My cry for help was also not noticeable due to heavy rain.”
Ummukulthum’s mother said it was a passerby who overheard the screaming in her daughter’s room that gained entry into the room through the window and got hold of Chu.
She said the deceased was rushed to the hospital by the people that came to rescue her but she was eventually confirmed dead.
