Kano singer, Yahaya Sharif-Aminu, who was sentenced to death by Sharia Court, for blaspheming Prophet Muhammad has appealed the judgment.
The 22-year-old’s death sentence by hanging has been greeted with mixed reactions.
While it gained traction with several Muslims in Kano and their lawyers counterpart in the state it generated outrage in southern part of the country.
Governor Abdullahi Ganduje had openly backed the judgment and expressed readiness to sign the death warrant at the expiration of the thirty-day window for the singer to appeal the decision.
But five days to the expiration, Yahaya has appealed the judgment courtesy of Human Rights activist and lawyer, Femi Falana (SAN).
