Katsina ex-council boss arrested for banditry

A former chairman of Jibia council area in Katsina State Alhaji Haruna Musa Mota has been arrested in connection with banditry.

Mota’s arrest followed the leakage of a viral audio recording in which he was heard discussing with a leader of a banditry gang involved in the abduction of Kankara Students, suggesting he was complicit in the crime.

The ex-council chief, according to Police spokesman Gambo, has been charged with conspiracy, abetting and terrorism.

“Yes, he has been arrested and charged to court for conspiracy, aiding and abetting, and terrorism, but I cannot confirm whether he was the mastermind of Kankara students’ abduction,” Gambo told newsmen.
