The ill-fated building situated at Itafaji in Lagos Island was three-storey with the school occupying the top two.

The building, which had been earmarked for demolition by the state government on account of structural defects and of substandard quality collapsed on Wednesday at around 10.00am like a badly arranged pack of cards killing ten persons including pupils with many injured.

According to reports, dead bodies and several persons were pulled out of the rubble alive. One of them is said to be Taofeekat who was believed to have been dead by her family and medical personnel but the destination of her ‘remains’ became issue between both.

“Our correspondent witnessed a scene where an  11-year-old pupil, , was about to be wheeled to the morgue and her family insisted that she should be handed over to them for burial according to Islamic rites, but she suddenly showed signs of life as she opened her eyes faintly,” wrote.
